One tall apartment house serves as a representation of a six-building housing project. This model was created by taking inspiration from the famous Brewster Wheeler Housing Project in Detroit, Michigan - situated near downtown. Despite being aware that these high-rise buildings, along with some townhouses, will soon be demolished by the city, the models were developed based on fondness for their designs. This apartment complex is topped with the tallest building in Paulwall at an impressive 15 stories when counting upwards! First-floor units are uniquely positioned by sinking them into the ground by a few feet. The vestibule boasts a series of steps leading downward before accessing additional floors containing residential apartments above, which can be accessed through an elevator or by traversing stairs within. Residents have access to shared facilities including trash rooms, mechanical areas, and mail chutes in addition to private accommodations featuring 2 bedrooms, walk-in pantries, and singular bathrooms. Photos available online alongside documentary footage were used as references when crafting this historical house design. Notable inhabitants of the actual Brewster Wheeler Housing Project included Diana Ross and the Supremes. Noted for being America's first ever subsidized housing units targeted towards African American communities - construction was finalized in 1952. A visit to Detroit can bring visitors closer to viewing the actual dwellings, yet residents are welcome to reimagine its location within an inner city landscape should they prefer. Alternatively, users could repurpose it as a mere background feature.
