The Pouring Satyr
myminifactory
A Roman copy from the second half of the 2nd century AD skillfully reproduces a bronze original credited to Praxiteles. Many of its components directly allude to Dyonysian rituals: the ivy wreath, the ram's skin, the syrinx (Pan flute) and the pedum (shepherd's staff), as well as the cluster of grapes held in his right hand, a 16th century addition during restoration.
