The 7th generation Porsche 911, called 991, was introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show on 15 September as a successor to the 997; it is the 3rd platform since the original 1963 911 (996 in '99 was the second). The design follows the evolutionary route of its predecessors, 997 and 996. Porsche's Chief Designer Michael Mauer is responsible for the 991's look.
