Counter-top Garden (An Easy-to-Run, Compact, and Uncomplicated Aquaponic System) Using no dirt at all, with a water pump, some aquarium hardware, a little engineering know-how, and the powerful benefits of miracle grow, the magic of aquaponics is in your hands - right on your countertops! You'll be able to grow nearly anything you need in the kitchen - from herbs to peppers - using this simple setup. This project measures approximately 249.87mm x 154.07mm x 105.39mm. Instructions This design is ready to print! For optimal print quality, use a layer thickness of at least 0.1mm or smaller if possible. It's also recommended to use a low infill setting, around 35% or less - anything more than that is not necessary. Happy Printing! To build this project, you'll need: PLNTR & components printed A DC water pump (like the one found on eBay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/310947764443) 8mm aquarium tubing (outer diameter) Aquarium rocks Miracle grow Optional: T5 florescent lamp (grow lamp) Instructions First, print both the PLNTR and its Auto-siphon Pipe, as they are essential parts in the assembly. Take the DC water pump. With 8mm aquarium tube, connect the bottom spout from the PLNTR to the 'in' port of the pump. Then, connect the 'out' port of the pump to one or both of the top spouts on the PLNTR - this is how the water cycles in and out. Next, take the Auto-siphon tube (which looks like a little straw). The short end of the tube should fit into the hole; if it doesn't, use sandpaper to smooth out the edges. The long end of the tube should be facing downward. Seal the connection with super glue. Take the Aquarium rocks and fill the basin up to the brim - but be careful not to break off the tube. Finally, fill the container with the right mixture of miracle grow and water. It should drain to the bottom; keep filling until the pump can run without straining. Congrats! You've successfully created your very own Aquaponic system! Now it's ready for planting whatever you need - go ahead and give it a try! How the internals work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHaiVhVZ3kM
