The Perfect Center Finder (Square/Round) Remix
prusaprinters

One of my hobbies is woodturning, and one tool that every woodturner needs is a good center finder. The Center Finder (Square/Round) by my fellow YouTube Maker, Marius Hornberger, is one of the best I have ever used.

Unfortunately, the center slot is not very conducive to normal wooden pencils, especially if they are on the dull side of sharp. It works perfectly with mechanical pencils, but I often turn rough-sawn bowl blanks, and mechanical pencil lead is just not robust enough to withstand that type of rough surface.

I have also seen a few comments on the original model asking for a chamfer down the centerline that would accommodate normal wooden pencils. I accidentally broke my print of the original center finder when I stepped on it recently so I felt this was an opportunity to remix the original design.

The model is almost identical to the original in every way except for two things. I added a 45-degree chamfer to each side of the centerline, as well as added a 10mm hole onto the end to better facilitate storage for those of us who like to hang our tools up.

I want to thank Marius for creating the original model, and if you are unfamiliar with his YouTube channel, you should definitely check him out!

To aid in further remixes from the community I have added the design files in all of the relevant formats for you to download.

Design File Included: .stl .f3d, step, .skp and obj files.

*Note: The embossed text seen in the project's cover image is not present in the 3D Printable Model, or any of the design files.

*Note: This post contains Amazon Affiliate links that support The Makers Workbench via a small commission from any sales they help generate.

Follow The Makers Workbench on:

Instagram

YouTube

Rumble

Locals

GAB

Gettr

Odysee

Paypal.me

Patreon

TheMakersWorkbench.com

I have only tested this model using the default 0.35mm Fast preset in Prusa Slic3r 2.4.1 with the following amendments made.

Print Settings

10-perimeters

5-top layers

5-bottom layers

20% infill

Rectilinear Infill

Monotonic Top and Bottom Pattern

Detect Bridging Perimeters - True

PLA Used: Polymaker Polyterra Eco-Friendly PLA - https://amzn.to/3qPYtzV
