The Penny Silva is a 3D printed, bio-degradable bike designed to be used in urban cityscapes of the future. Created with natural cellulose for its frame and flexible polymer for wheels and seat, this bike starts disintegrating after a week of use, transforming into a garden of daisies or daffodils. By 2040, when every household is expected to have a 3D printing machine, users can simply print one of these bikes, embed flower seeds within the frame during printing, and discard it once its one-week lifespan is up. The bike's rapid decomposition allows the embedded flowers to grow, adding natural beauty to the grey city environment. Named after the iconic Penny Farthing and the Latin word for growth, this bike offers an attractive vintage design with minimal moving parts, and its honeycomb wheel structure provides impact absorption and a supportive structure for blooming flowers. The frame's seed-infused cellulose and polymer wheels ensure a completely biodegradable design that poses no harm to the environment as it degrades over time. Easy to assemble with snap-fits, this bike also features a built-in bag hook on its slim frame for convenience while cycling.
