Anne-Louis Girodet was born on January 5, 1767, and died on December 9, 1824. He was a French painter who studied under Jacques-Louis David. Girodet is famous for adding sensual elements to his paintings, which helped start the Romantic movement. His artwork features precise details and clear styles, often depicting members of Napoleon's family. A marble sculpture created by Jean-Baptiste Roman in 1827 was commissioned for The Louvre's painter gallery. This sculpture, called Malvine, Dying in the Arms of Fingal, is a notable work of art.
