The Orcinus, a military variant of the Balaenoptra Class civilian tanker-refinery, was constructed by the Terran United Federation. They produced 50 ships fitted with military specifications and weaponry for use in forward operations to meet the fuel requirements of distant fleets. The Orcinus offers a superior fuel source; however, it is only lightly armed and armored for self-protection purposes. These vessels are typically deployed with a small destroyer/frigate group.
