The Orange Screamer - A wide-area annoyance device

thingiverse

This is a pocket-sized turbo whistle or siren that produces an incredibly loud and intensely irritating WHEEEEEEEEEE when blown into it. A full write-up of this project can be found on Instructables : http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Orange-Screamer/ , where you can also view a video of the device in action : https://vimeo.com/105474925 (please note that the camera microphone fails to capture the complete range and volume of sound). A custom-designed whistle inspired by Instructables user Kiteman's perspex laser-cut version sparked the creation of this device. Instructions To assemble the turbo whistle, first secure the rotor onto the spindle before attaching the lid with cyanoacrylate adhesive. Optimal performance will result from slightly sanding the components in contact to eliminate any surface roughness created by 3D printing. Applying a small drop of light oil or silicone spray within the assembly will further enhance results. In this ZIP file, you'll find Designspark (RSDOC), STL, SketchUp (V8), and THING files for the body, rotor, lid, and single rotor blade, allowing for customized modifications in these design environments. The included SKP files are exported from Designspark and have been tested on SketchUp for optimal functionality.
