The Nymphs of the Seine and Vase of Troyes
myminifactory
This 142cm tall ornate vase was commissioned to decorate the Paris EXPO (Universal Exhibition) of 1900, but a similar model was actually cast in 1904 for installation at the Cours-la-Reine. Two skilled artisans collaborated on this project under the direction of the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, one of Europe's premier porcelain manufacturers. Sculptor Alfred Boucher (1850-1934) designed the three figurative nymphs that adorn the vase. Ceramicist Alexandre Sandier created the elegant surmounting vase and brought the piece to life in ceramic, while Alexander Dubois oversaw mass production. The work showcases three nymphs, mythical spirits of nature depicted as stunning maidens who inhabit rivers and woods, surrounding a vase reminiscent of Troyes. This object is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory.
