The Nymph Salmacis at The Louvre, Paris
myminifactory
The plaster model was showcased at the Salon between 1819-1824. In Greek mythology, Salmacis - an unusual naiad - shunned the traditional ways of Artemis and instead pursued vanity and idleness with fervor. Her attempted assault on Hermaphroditus marks her as the sole nymph rapist in the entire Greek mythological canon. This object is part of "Scan The World".
