The original 3D model was brought into being using Sketchup 6 and subsequently converted to every other conceivable 3D format imaginable. The church in question stands proudly as a Protestant place of worship nestled snugly within Groningen's very own Hortusbuurt. After the momentous occasion of Groningen's downsizing in 1594, urban planners wasted no time dreaming up ways to significantly expand the city's borders. Initially conceptualized way back in 1608, actual fortifications weren't completed until 1625 - an exercise that laid the groundwork for a new era in architecture and spiritual worship. This monumental shift called for an altogether novel place of prayer. Ground was finally broken in 1660 with direct reference to the Amsterdam Noorderkerk's majestic design aesthetic. Historians consider The New Church an instant pioneer, being the very first church purpose-built specifically for Protestant communion within Groningen (albeit sharing real estate alongside the Catholic-rooted Martini Church and Aa-church). Standing tall, it stands on proud foundations of Renaissance architectural heritage, complete with a striking Greek cross floor plan whose structural armpits support picturesque triangular abodes. Ruling majestically overhead lies a quaint, charming celebration tower - unmistakably sealing this place of solace in pure architectural perfection.
