The NASAnator Clamp is a two-part design that can be printed as a single piece, as per Kelvin Law, Ramin Shaikhi, and Patrick DiGioacchino's creation. Watch it in action via this video demo: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY5C_9vDNBw>. The clamping mechanism works by squeezing the handrail through an interference fit by flexing its outer part. Notably, no support material is required because all overhang features have at least a 45-degree draft angle built-in, including ribs, indented lettering, L-track, and more. The design space was created with basic L-track and clamping features, followed by topology optimization to achieve the highest strength-to-weight ratio. The design space envelop is within an inch of the handrail cross-section as specified in the rules. The product has been analyzed via FEA under 150 lbf load cases in the positive/negative x/y/z directions on the L-track, providing a safety factor of 2.0.
