The statue of Mudé, a masterful creation in stone from Angoulême, stands as an allegorical tribute to the therapeutic wonders of Salies-de-Béarn's waters. Carved by Jean Lucien Tisné, a native of the nearby village of Salles-Mongiscard, this 2-meter-tall masterpiece was unveiled by Minister Léon Bérard in 1920 and later restored by Maïtena Lougarot in the early 2000s. The statue of Mudé proudly represents the emblem of the Baths of Salies-de-Béarn, embodying the essence of salt, beauty, and youth. As the goddess of places, Mudé now serves as a powerful communication tool for Spa Thermal de Salies, aptly named "Les Bains de la Mude". The phrase "Prauba Muda, tonseal time!" still echoes through the years, symbolizing the desperate cry of those who suffered at the hands of the powerful when they were stripped of their rightful share of resources.
