Do you struggle waking up in the morning? Do you have a north-facing window and want to save money on heating? Do you know someone who is able-bodied and has difficulty moving around? Do you ever need instant visibility in your home? Do you hate when people can't see into your home at night? Do you wish people could tell when you were on vacation? The MorningRod will help with all of that. It's a smart curtain rod that automatically opens and closes your curtains for you. The design is very modern, attractive, looks great in any home and uses off-the-shelf curtains without grommets that can be purchased for $18 on Amazon. It will close all your home curtains every morning, letting darkness into your home and waking you up. Use Alexa, and it will open your curtains in 5 seconds whenever you need instant visibility. It figures out the exact sunset and sunrise time of each day and keeps your curtains open when it gets light, no matter what time it is. You can watch this video to see how it works best The right side of the MorningRod contains the NEMA 17 motor and electronics (ESP32 with Trinamic TMC5130 motor driver) Power from the motor is transferred via a belt to the centerpiece. This causes the right gear to turn the left gear. The left gear then turns the left belt. Both belts are connected to a carriage which moves your curtains back and forth The left side uses an idler pulley and is very simple. You need to use curtains without grommets. You can determine the width of curtains required using this calculator in the middle of our kit page. Then head over to Wayfair and find the curtains AT LEAST as wide as the ones required by using this link In order to build this, you need to purchase additional hardware. It will cost a significant amount of money to individually source each screw, belt, and piece. That is why I've created a kit that includes everything you need to build this. This kit isn't some toy, it uses very advanced motors, drivers, and hardware. It also looks very modern and sleek and only takes 1 hour to assemble. The MorningRod uses the same motor and electronics that extremely advanced robotics do. By assembling your own, you will learn more about motion control devices. I am also putting together a motion control course so you can build more things based on the MorningRod design. In addition, the firmware is completely open sourced and will allow you to modify it and even switch to different platforms like ESPHome or OpenHab if you don't like the custom app we've built for this. Here is the code This kit is priced as low as possible to make it as affordable as possible. If you look at the IndieGoGo "Slide" (a similar smart curtain device), it costs $259 for 1 motor. You need to purchase 2 of them plus a curtain rod for around $40. That's $558 just for 1 window! The MorningRod is much much more affordable than that. Click Here to see the MorningRod Kit
