The model is based on photographs from 2017, taken during the excavation and investigation of a fallen soldier in Ilomantsi. Research revealed not only where he had died but also his age at death and cause of death. The pictures used for this model come from an excavation report that can be found in both Finnish and Russian languages currently available. This model was developed as part of a collaborative project from 2017, conducted by researchers who excavated the grave of a Soviet soldier with a student of archaeology. Further research was carried out in the form of a master's thesis titled "Conflict Archaeology as Part of Humanitarian Work."
