The Mistcutter - Proof of Concept for a custom tile system
thingiverse
I embarked on an ambitious project known as Mistcutter to see if I could design my own tiles for tabletop RPGs. The tiles are roughly based on the Wyloch 1.25" tile system, but they're not entirely compatible with True Tiles, which is what they closely resemble (they share the same floor height, but the walls are a tad taller). I'm not releasing the files I use just yet as I have some tweaks to make and I greatly respect Curufin and Wyloch's hard work. This system is also OpenLock compatible. These tiles were printed in black and orange PLA, then painted to resemble wood using affordable acrylics from a local big-box store. Admittedly, I've had trouble with curling on the tiles, partly due to the immense force they exert on the Fleks3-D plates I use. I might have recently resolved this issue. At the helm of the ship (guided by a thaumaturgical helm inspired by Lyndon Hardy's 'Master of the Five Magics') is Faina, the lovely embermage (model courtesy of Wizards of the Coast). Other crew members include Rooka, the dragonborn paladin (Wizards of the Coast); Daniel, the half-elf fop (Wizards of the Coast); and Eirfast, the Karhu Berzerker (Ill Gotten Games). A variety of open-source elements were used in creating this project, including the wings OBJ from Ill Gotten Games, the lion head from Jigs and more (which I'll add once I look them up).
