The Minotaur

The Minotaur is shown as it falls to Theseus' attack: this fearsome creature with a human body and bull's head was brought down by a clever tactic that forced it to its knees, pinned behind by the horns or arm as indicated by the tilted head and the implication of raised arms accompanying the twisting of the head and chest towards the enemy. A Roman replica of an ancient Greek original from around 500 BC is attributed to the renowned sculptor Myron, dating back to the late 1st century AD.
