I recently discovered sculpting miniatures after watching Tom Mason on YouTube, so I decided to create an innovative solution to make it more convenient. I have included all the STL files in separate parts, making them fully customizable and ensuring they are oriented correctly for printing. I've also provided editable 123D Design files. I designed this around my own hand, leaving ample space for me to hold it comfortably, as my hands are of average size. It should fit most people's hands unless you have unusually large hands; in that case, you may need to widen the "main plate" file. Depending on whether you're left- or right-handed will determine how you attach the "main plate" to the handle, with the far side being wider than the part where your thumb would sit. As your hand is in a gripping/fist shape, the knuckles protrude further outward. This tool comes with 10 removable tool pots, allowing you to store all your favorite tools. It also features a rolling pin with storage space inside the handle for easy access. The rolling pin guides are interchangeable, enabling you to roll putty/clay at varying thicknesses ranging from 0 to 1mm thick in 0.2mm increments. You can expand these further if needed by editing the "pin guide" file. Despite its appearance, this tool is not cumbersome and allows you to comfortably see your armature at any angle without tools slipping out. I printed the entire thing with just 10% infill and found it to be strong enough, except for the rolling pin, which I would print again with 100% infill if given the opportunity. The weak point lies where it sits on the guide rails at just 10%. However, if you have the time, more infill is obviously better. I plan on creating textured rolling pins and adding them to the files in the future. The only reason I haven't done so already is that my hard drive is failing in my computer, but once I get a new one, I'll add a whole bunch of different textured rolling pins. If you have any questions or suggested edits, feel free to ask! Oh yeah, while I'm here, I'd like to take the time to shamelessly advertise my Facebook group – it's a place for budding mini sculptors to gather and discuss minis and sculpting.
