The minaret of Helicobacter
thingiverse
The distinctive landmark of Iraq, the Minaret of Helicobacter, stands out due to its one-of-a-kind shape. It is a testament to Iraq's rich ancient history and is considered one of the country's most famous landmarks. Initially built as part of the mosque complex in Samarra, the minaret was founded by al-Mutawakkil in 237 AH on the western side of the city. At the time of its construction, it was considered the largest mosque in the Muslim world. The name "Minaret of Helicobacter" is derived from its unique cylindrical shape with a helical design. This magnificent structure stands at an impressive height of 52 meters and is built using bricks that are arranged in a square base with each side measuring 33 meters and a height of 15 meters. The minaret is topped with a five-layered cylindrical part that gradually decreases in size as it rises, surrounded by a spiral staircase with a width of 2 meters that wraps around the body of the minaret anti-clockwise. The staircase covers an impressive 399 degrees, providing easy access to the top layer where the muezzin would call out to the people of Samarra. The name "Paljaon" is used to refer to this uppermost part of the minaret.
