The HEK-7 'Mikey' was a failed and creatively bankrupt attempt to recreate the success of the Mackie. Conceived as cashing in on the dumpy but iconic look of the Mackie in a cheaper chassis, due to cost-cutting measures it was armed with no weapons but a single crotch-mounted small laser, and 2 Kali-Yama 'Overcompensator-20' speakers to project the pilot's voice as loudly and far as possible. Ultimately, with it's single small laser prone to malfunctions, it's low quality speakers known for distortion, and it's high tonnage, the project was scrapped, and all known copies were thankfully destroyed, as it was a project that ultimately, nobody had ever wanted around in the first place. Notable Pilots: Miguel "Hechtor" Lucio Miguel "Hechtor" Lucio was an unemployed, semi literate "Gladiator" on Solaris. Or so he billed himself as, usually in as poorly spelled a manor as his "Nom de Guerre". In reality he was a security guard for one of the poorer bottom dwelling "Arms Manufacturers" in the Reaches. Still, when you are as half-assed a operation as CloneWerks was, you can't be too picky. So "Hechtor" was hired to pilot the MIKEY in combat, and had the dubious distinction in fighting in what may be the first Solaris Battle, where the Small Laser on his Mikey fired prematurely, sputtered and refused to fire again, leading to an easy victory for his opponent, driving a genuine Mackie (tm) Battlemech, gaining Skobel the recognition, and even sponsorship for future fights between arms makers from Catalyst Weapons Labs, leading to the birth of the Solaris Games as we know it. Thanks, Miguel, for being Solaris' first loser.
