This is a revolutionary design remix of the Corona door opener by AndiBl. The self-disinfecting plastic used in its construction makes it an ideal solution for combating germs and virus particles that could otherwise accumulate in the wireframe design. Seventy units have already been produced and distributed for free, with beta testing currently underway in the UK. This design is subject to change over the next few weeks based on feedback from users, with plans to manufacture hundreds more once testing is complete. The ultimate goal is to distribute these door openers to those who need them most, including BAME workers, the elderly, care workers, and individuals with underlying conditions. This design is specifically tailored for use with Copper3D PLA Active filament, which contains copper nanoparticles that claim to inactivate coronaviruses within just 5 minutes. This significantly increases protection for users and eliminates the need for disinfection before use. The minimized wireframe + circles design also keeps production costs low, with each part costing less than £1 despite the use of expensive filament. Unlike traditional metal door openers, this design won't lose its antiviral properties over time due to tarnishing or exposure to sweat. In fact, the copper nanoparticles embedded in the filament ensure that it remains effective even after repeated use. Design changes have been made from the original Corona door opener by AndiBl, including: * The addition of a button presser to the bottom corner for easy chip-and-pin and ATM access * A built-in bottle opener that doubles as a glove hook and light switch roller * Slight modifications to the ergonomics of the grip for improved comfort To further enhance part strength and reduce weight, holes have been added to the design to create a circular pseudo-infill pattern. This technique takes advantage of the properties of hoop stress in holes, similar to the pioneering work on Pontypridd bridge. Printing parameters include: * No top or bottom layers * 8 walls printed with a 0.4mm nozzle * Increased flow multiplier for better layer adhesion * No raft required, just a glass bed and slow first layer with glue stick Optional mods include: * Touchscreen functionality using 1.5mm household mains copper wire * Retractable carabiner for easy attachment and removal * Optional wallet/lanyard for contactless bank card use
