The Me(n)tal Block

Background: The spark for this design ignited from my frustration with conceptualizing a suitable sculpture design. I chose to turn my creative roadblock into a tangible concept. Crafted from a rich, dark bronze, this sculpture would tower at 9 feet tall and feature sides of 8 feet in length. Each of the four sides boasts a small slit that spans the entire block, allowing a viewer (positioned at the correct angle) to enjoy an unbroken view through the sculpture. Purpose: Born from my own creative struggles to come up with a unique sculpture idea, The Me(n)tal Block represents the challenges of forging new art, writing papers, developing scientific procedures, and other academic pursuits. While mental blocks can be tough to overcome, if one can find the right angle, it's possible to see through their creative obstacle.
