This sculpture by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875) portrays the Marquise of Lavalette, finalized between 1861-1862. Born Adeline Fowle in 1799 and passing away in 1869, she married Samuel Welles, an American banker, in 1816, then marrying the Marquis Felix de Lavalette (1806-1881) afterwards. His artwork is also visible at the Musée d'Orsay and has been uploaded to Scan The World and MyMiniFactory. This object belongs to "Scan The World".
