The Man and his Thought

The Man and his Thought

myminifactory

This powerful sculpture depicts a male figure kissing a little girl on his chest. Like many of his other works, this work represents Rodin’s relationship with his inspiration and creative impulses. The little girl, who might be seen as a negative message in a superficial way, actually symbolises the creative push of the artist and the creation itself coming from the marble block. The artist is able to “breath life” into his work directly into the cold marble block. The little girl is emblematic, she represents the idea of a work of art which is not completed and still needs to be shaped, it is still in the creative process.
