The Mailbox Project
thingiverse
This mailbox starts out as a design created in SolidWorks, paving the way for it to be accurately cut using a laser cutter and then carefully assembled together using precise joinery and gorilla glue. The box boasts four sleek curved pieces on its sides, which provide spaces perfect for holding newspapers or magazines. Two cleverly designed drawers offer ample storage for letters and other mail, and they slide open on both sides, making it easy to pick up and drop off the mail. This versatile mailbox can also be repurposed as a storage unit whenever needed. Because of its four curved components, building this mailbox with layered wood is highly recommended in order to achieve the desired bending effect. Keep in mind that the physical model shown was made using ¼ inch thick wood, and it's built at half scale. The STL files provided are all scaled up to full size, but the joinery dimensions currently work best for builds at half scale; modifications will be necessary for full-scale builds.
