The Hobbit of the Shire, Frodo Baggins is one of the main characters in the series of books that make up the Lord of the Rings trilogy by British author J. R. R. Tolkien. Belonging to the race of hobbits, also called halflings, Frodo is young, taller than normal and lighter-haired than the rest of his neighbors. Because of his kinship with Bilbo Baggins, former holder of the one ring, he is given the mission to bring the ring to Mount Doom to destroy it.
