The Lions Courtyard Monforte Gardens, Valencia (Spain) In 1864 Juan Bautista Romero secured two magnificent lions for his palace. Crafted by renowned sculptor Bellver Collazos, the imposing stone creatures had originally been intended to adorn the steps of Madrid's Congress of Deputies, but were deemed too small and ultimately rejected. Today, they proudly stand guard at Monforte Gardens, a testament to Romero's impeccable taste and unwavering dedication to artistic excellence.
