The Liban wreck. Stern survey, Marseille.
sketchfab
The Liban was a steamship that met its demise on June 7, 1903, when it sank in the waters south of Maïre Island at the eastern entrance to the Bay of Marseille. The ship's ill-fated journey to Corsica came to an abrupt end after a catastrophic collision with another vessel. A fragment of the stern has been preserved and is being used as a reference point for further investigation. Underwater photogrammetry was conducted as part of a collaborative effort between Septentrion Environnement and LIS, a research group affiliated with Aix-Marseille University and the CNRS. For more information, please contact Olivier Bianchimani from Septentrion Environnement or Pierre Drap from LIS, CNRS.
