Update December 2, 2018: Many people have asked about making the ornament easier to hang (no drilling/glue required). I've added two files - navi_outer_ring.stl and navi_onepiece_ring.stl, which add a ring for attaching string/wire. I haven't printed this version myself, so feel free to let me know if you choose to go this route and have any issues. Hey! Listen! It's Navi from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in hanging ornament form. It's perfect for the rear-view mirror, Christmas tree, or even catching in a bottle when you're running low on hearts. If you've got a multi-material printer, print navi_inner.stl in your chosen fairy color and navi_outer.stl in clear filament, which gives the finished model an ethereal glowing effect when light shines through it. If you want to print it on a single-extruder machine, use navi_onepiece.stl. You won't get the nifty glow effect from the clear shell. The print shown was done on a quad extruder Prusa i3 MK2 MMU as follows: - **navi_outer.stl** 3D Solutech Natural Clear PLA (extruder 1) - **navi_inner.stl** 3D Solutech Aqua Blue PLA (extruder 2) If you're printing with the clear shell, you may need to tweak your slicer software settings. I use Slic3r Prusa Edition and set navi_outer.stl to print with 100% infill and 20 perimeters. The high perimeter count ensures the shell around the spherical body is printed in concentric rings rather than using another infill pattern that's visible when light shines through. For navi_inner.stl, I used default settings. Rather than having a mounting ring/tag sticking out of the top, I chose to drill a small hole and glue in a length of fishing line. If you prefer to avoid drilling/glue, use one of these files for a version with a mounting ring: - **navi_outer_ring.stl** replaces navi_outer.stl for multi-material prints - **navi_onepiece_ring.stl** replaces navi_onepiece.stl for single material prints If you want to mount it in a bottle, I highly recommend this one from Etsy, which is what I used (and specifically sized the ornament for) in the photo strip: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/588558748/2pcs-glass-bottle-pudding-bottlesglass Happy printing!
