thingiverse
Human builds 2-meter wooden Leaf Bridge using UPM Formi 3D biocomposite at Pori Housing Fair 2018 with project Juniper. Project Juniper brings together Finland's leading technology players from additive manufacturing, including UPM Biocomposites, 3DStep Oy, Suunnittelukide Oy, Simons Element Oy, TAMK, ROP Artist Group, and Business Finland. Since autumn 2017, the project group has explored printing large structures with wood-based materials and copying nature's features through biomimicry. Project coordination is handled by 3Dstep Oy, while Leaf bridge concept is created by ROP Artist Group. Contraction detail design is done by TAMK, and strength calculations are made by Suunnittelukide Oy and TAMK. Printing is performed by TAMK, materials are provided by UPM Biocomposites/Octofiber, assembly is handled by Suunnittelukide Oy and ROP, housing fair arrangements are managed by Simons Element Oy, and finance is arranged in collaboration with Business Finland. The Leaf Bridge was printed in 17 parts, measuring approximately 2 meters long by 80 centimeters wide by 80 centimeters tall. The bridge weighs a total of 93 kilograms. You can now print your own Leaf Bridge on a 1:10 scale.
