'The Last Starfighter' Starfighter Command Logo Coaster
myminifactory
Yes, showing my age once more. If you haven't seen The Last Starfighter, you really need to. Following the original Tron, it was the next milestone in cinematic CGI, featuring 37 minutes of entirely CGI footage generated by a Cray X-MP supercomputer. Yes, I know that these days a Playstation 4 can generate better CGI than an 80s supercomputer, but at the time it was still deeply impressive. This latest coaster depicts the logo of Starfighter Command, from the planet Rylos, featured in the movie. It also appeared on the side of the Starfighter arcade game cabinet which (spoiler alert) was a recruiting tool for said organisation. This coaster may not get you whisked away in a StarCar by a Fedora-wearing alien to become a weapons officer on a GunStar... but at least it'll keep the cup rings off your table. It has, of course, the usual 5x3mm holes in the back for neodymium magnets, should you want to turn it into a magnetic sign. This coaster is available, printed and assembled, in my Etsy store - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/myproductstore
