The Last Alliance (Battle of Dagorlad)

So, I've been hammering away at this scene for roughly three million years now, and I could probably still be working on it another three million years from now. It's a never-ending battle to get everything just right - textures need tweaking, rigging is a work in progress, animation needs polishing... but the time has come to move on and tackle other projects. The epic clash of the Last Alliance on the plains of Dagorlad was one of my favorite scenes from the movie when I was a kid (despite the fact that those cool orcs get massacred - poor guys). The elves make these incredible, choreographed moves against Sauron's orc army, and it never fails to impress. This entire scene was created using Blender - modeling, UVs, rigging, and animations were all done within the software. Textures for the orcs and skybox were painstakingly hand-painted in Photoshop, while the elves' textures came from baking maps in Blender with some less-than-stellar handpainting in PS to boot. The floor is just a couple of textures I scavenged from online. It's a bit of an odd mix of styles, but I wanted those golden armors to shine with every last detail... and I hope you like it!
