The Laminar Lamp
cults3d
This Lamp is made to print on a FDM 3D Printer. The outer form is inspired by a Classic Vase shape. It consists of 30 evenly space parts, with a Lamp Bulb in the middle. This creates nice shadows on the walls and ceiling. I used red PLA en neutral translucent PET-G to make this Design. A E14 Lamp Bulb & E14 Fitting is used here, but you can use every Lamp Bulb that fits. The dimensions of this Lamp are 330mm high and 367mm wide. All the parts can be printed on a standard build platform of 200mm x200mm. Be ware with glowing Bulbs that get hot! The PLA may melt and the Lamp will then get out of shape. To be super safe, use a LED bulb instead :-) Additional parts you need: 2x M3x16 Bolt & Nuts 1x Lamp Bulb & Fitting 1x Electrical cable In the Photo section I added an picture that shows how the parts need to be assembled. I also added 2 3D files of the Lamp completely assembled (3MF & OBJ) to give you a 3D look for better understanding how the printed parts come together. Problem fix: The Lampshade is a not perfectly round or the 30 main parts are not evenly spaced. Please See the 3in1 image in the photo section to get a better idea. In the first image you can see that the parts are not evenly spaced. This can happen due to warped parts or that they are not glue consistently enough. On the second image the Lampshade is placed over a heat resistant object that has the right diameter. Make sure everything is spaced evenly. The Nuts that are placed around, also help with this. Then heat up the Lampshade with a Hot Air Gun around the area where the 2 red rings are situated. Warm up this area until the plastic gets softer. Of course do not burn the plastic! Then leave the lampshade to cool down for a view hours. When the plastic is cooled down, it will hold that position and the Lampshade is fixed. The end result is show on the third image. If you have questions, feel free to ask :-)
