The Xiphos was one of the primary swords of Greek antiquity. Approximately sixty-five centimeters in length, the Xiphos wielded the strength and velocity of an axe, while retaining a sword's cutting edge and the ability to thrust. It was carried on the left side cross-suspended from the opposite, right shoulder.
