The King is Dead game boxes
thingiverse
This is a set of boxes to store the game components for The King is Dead (second edition), as well as a tiny component upgrade (pulled from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:687162) for area control. The original purpose of this project was to accommodate sleeved cards, which just don't fit in the insert that comes in the game box. Ironic, because that insert is like 80% empty space. But moving on. Note that this does NOT attempt to make full use of the box space. You can store another 4-5 small games in the game box after printing these components, or provide comfortable housing for a family of field mice. I don't know your life. (You could potentially replace the wooden cubes with larger components, and store those? I think I'm just going to live with having some dead space in the box, though.) Here's what you'll print: * 27 copies of the European Settlement castles, which replace the wooden nickels from the base game. Eight castles per base color (red, blue, yellow), and three black castles to represent the French. I printed these out starting with the base color, then making filament changes to gray at layer 30 (assuming an 0.2mm layer height), but mono-color would work fine. * Two copies of the card boxes. I use one to store the Coronation card, region cards, and advanced mode cards, and the other to store the base action cards. You could absolutely go with a single box, and there are plenty of places to download/design those, but I wanted the card boxes and bits box to be roughly the same height. * One copy of the bits box with lid (derived from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:468917 as always). The slightly larger well holds the 27 castles, and the other well holds the wooden cubes, bag, and the wooden nickels that I keep around for games with people who hate nicer-looking components. * One copy of the spacer, which you can use to keep the internal boxes from shifting around in the big box. I sized this to be just 16mm high, but you can scale the height to 30mm in your slicer if you want it to be flush with the other boxes.
