In the biblical Book of Genesis, Adam and Eve have two sons, Cain and Abel, who are humanity's firstborn twins. Cain, the elder brother, works as a farmer, while his younger sibling Abel tends sheep. The brothers offer sacrifices to God, each presenting their own harvest, but God prefers Abel's offering over Cain's.
