The Iron Duke Dog

The Iron Duke Dog

So we embarked on a class project that involved combining three items from thingiverse with one original creation. Our mission was to reimagine JMU's iconic mascot, the 'Duke Dog.' We started by selecting a bull dog model, which we found after some searching. It was adorable and fit perfectly with our school's branding. Next, we scoured for a crown that matched our school's official mascot design, and this regal piece really caught our eye. As we continued to explore, we stumbled upon an Iron Man helmet and thought it would be hilarious to give our project a Marvel twist. The irony of using wood filament, despite the character being called the Iron Duke Dog, wasn't lost on us. To add some flair, we spelled out "dog" as 'Dawg' in the base model. When assembled, our creation looks quite impressive. Our first attempt at printing the base was a failure due to its small size, so we made significant adjustments for the second print. Removing scaffolding proved tricky, especially when it came to the crown's intricate details. Print Settings Printer Brand: Printer: AFINIA H480 Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Infill: loose Notes: We used wood filament and standard settings for everything else. It took about an hour and a half to print two models simultaneously. Don't forget to set your table heat for at least an hour!
