the IRIS project
thingiverse
A few weeks back, I discovered Chris Schaie's iris on Hackaday and was captivated. Inspired, I captured a screenshot and crafted my own version using his design blueprint. After much effort, my DIY mechanical iris, opened by a stepper motor, came to fruition. It now serves as a welcoming feature at the Metalab. Building instructions can be found on our wiki at http://metalab.at/wiki/iris. For successful construction, you'll require a lasercutter, 8mm wood, three rollerblade ball bearings, a stepper motor, and related control electronics.
With this file you will be able to print the IRIS project with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on the IRIS project.
