The Inopos
thingiverse
The colossal bust known as "The Inopos," believed to represent Alexander the Great, dates back to around 100 BC. This nearly one-meter-tall fragmented piece can be found in the Louvre museum, where it often goes unnoticed amidst the crowd that gathers to see the Venus de Milo. Cosmo Wenman scanned the original at the Louvre and digitally restored its damaged nose using a scan from another portrait of Alexander at the British Museum. The full-scale PLA print on a MakerBot Replicator2 was then reinvented with Alternate Reality Patinas to resemble weathered bronze. This iconic piece has a complex history, initially thought to be a representation of the Cycladic river god Inopos. However, it is now widely accepted as a portrait of Alexander the Great.
