What's an Egg Topper?\nAn egg topper is a device made to create a round hole in the top of a soft-boiled egg so it can be spooned out for a great breakfast. I never had a soft-boiled egg before last weekend, but now I'm hooked! I wanted to find something unique to add to Thingiverse and this seemed like a fun challenge. Most egg toppers are metal, but will it work? This is definitely a "must print" because the testing is so much fun!!!\nPrint Settings\nPrinter Brand: \n LulzBot\n \n Printer: \n TAZ 5\n \n Rafts: \n No\n \n Supports: \n No\n \n Resolution: \n .25\n \n Infill: \n 95%\n \n Notes: \n I used ABS but think PLA is more rigid and would probably work even better. I filled the design with a lot of material in the hope it would be solid and transfer energy to the eggshell.\nHow I Designed This\nRandom build notes...\n The design uses a rubber band to create the powerful smacking motion that cracks the round hole in the egg, just like commercial toppers. You often have to snap the egg a few times to separate the top shell, and occasionally another part of the egg cracks. \nI think the main design improvement would be creating a sharper cutting edge. I postponed the sharp edge when I was having problems with bed adhesion, but it does work as-is. A sharper edge would probably yield a cleaner cut/break, which is the goal: creating a perfectly round hole. \nHave fun!
