The Ideal Scout
thingiverse
In front of the local Boy Scouts headquarters right here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota is a fantastic bronze replica of R. Tait McKenzie's "The Ideal Scout" or "Boy Scout" as he is more widely recognized. This life-sized replica stands proudly on a block of local stone, pink Sioux quartzite. He is one of many replicas that stand all over the United States and abroad. Please visit this Wikipedia link for more information on the original: https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._Tait_McKenzie's_The_Ideal_Scout I took approximately 200 photos around the statue and his block pedestal. At the time, I made a mistake by using JPG instead of RAW for the photo file choice. This error resulted in limited information for Agisoft Photoscan to work from as most of the photos were either overexposed or deep in shadow. I enhanced the photos as best as possible in Lightroom before starting the process of creating this model. I ran Photoscan on a medium setting at every step. The resulting model, while not my finest work, was still usable. I imported the OBJ file into Meshmixer to scale it, clean it up and repair it. I then exported it to Meshlab where I double-checked my work again, then exported it as a final STL file. I hope you enjoy it.
