The Hunted Boar

On the edge of the wildlands sits the The Hunted Boar Inn. The inn is said to have been the hunting lodge of an old noble, but was passed to his huntsman several generations ago. Was it passed on because the land was too wild? Because the noble found special favor on the huntsman? Or, because the huntsman extorted the noble with terrible secrets? I have started so many campaigns with four strangers meeting in a tavern. Some filled with people drinking heavily, leading to a good old fashioned bar room brawl, others dark and smoky filled with secrets being passed in lonely corners before heading off on wild adventures. The tavern can hold a special place in adventurers’ hearts as a base of operations and respite from the dungeons and wild places they roam and deserved a place on my table and shelf. After watching an hour of tutorials from The Townsmith on YouTube, I designed the tavern on paper and began building it in the browser based software. Time melted away as I watched my mind’s image come to life on screen; it was both fun and productive. I explored different options and capabilities from the finesse tools available when I realized I could mount the kegs on the walls for eager patrons. Printing the model proved to be a learning experience as I expect all 3D modeling and printing is. I learned I had grouped the elements of my ground floor ideally for printing, but not assembly. I was able to easily modify post print, and then correct the groups in Townbuilder. The print was done on my Ender3 Pro in Tecbears PLA, both black and gray, over several days. Painting started with a base coat to bring everything to the same starting point. From there, I matched the impeccable texturing of the models to colors in order to give life to the inn. The several floors allow me to have bar scenes, scenes while my players rest, and a room just for the proprietor. I look forward to designing, printing, and painting new scenes for use in my games.
