Here is the rewritten text: As a third-place winner in the 18-and-over age group, I've found that sweeping or mopping the floor with one hand is an exhausting task. It requires significantly more energy and strength from that single arm, making it nearly impossible for individuals with injuries, paralysis, or amputation on one arm to complete daily tasks. My mother is a prime example of this challenge, using only one arm to perform all her daily chores, leading to overexertion of her remaining arm. To alleviate this struggle, my goal was to create a tool that would make sweeping and mopping easier for individuals with limited mobility. I achieved this by designing a set of open rings with an ergonomic handle, allowing users to distribute the workload more evenly. To take it further, I created a support system that can be attached to a standard broomstick, reducing strain on the arm. The prototype photos show my initial design from a few weeks ago. The inner corners of the rings feature rounded edges to prevent blisters, scratches, and cuts, while the outer surface is curved to avoid stress points in the material, preventing breakage. The blades of the rings are slightly tapered, allowing for flexibility at the top part, making it easier to get in and out of the rings. Each component has holes for M3 bolts/screws with brass inserts, with an outside diameter of 4mm and a length of 12 mm for the rings and 10 mm for the handle. I printed these parts using a delta-style printer, employing the following settings: For the Rings & Handle: - Layer height: 0.2mm - Outside perimeters: 2 - Top and bottom solid layers: 3 - Infill density: 20% full Honeycomb For the Clamps: - Layer height: 0.2mm - Outside perimeters: 4 - Top and bottom solid layers: 4 - Infill density: 30% full Honeycomb The Handle has a unique configuration, depending on its standing position: Standing upright on the attachment part (0-16mm): - Layer height: 0.2 mm - Infill density: 25% Full Honeycomb - Bottom solid layers: 3 - Top solid layers: 0 - Outside perimeters: 3 (16-29mm): - Layer height: 0.1 mm - Infill density: 20% Full Honeycomb - Bottom and top solid layers: 0 - Outside perimeters: 2 (29mm-end): - Layer height: 0.3 mm - Infill density: 15% Full Honeycomb - Bottom solid layers: 0 - Top solid layers: 2 - Outside perimeters: 2 The sizes of the rings are 50 mm broad and 60 mm for the elbow piece, with a 40 mm broad elliptical shape (60x45) for the wrist piece.
