The Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh viewed space around furniture with equal importance as wood and upholstery. Originally painted white, Mackintosh's high, narrow Hill House chair was intended to be decorative rather than actually sat upon. Designed in 1902-1903 for publisher W.W. Blackie, the original remains in the bedroom of Helensburgh's Hill House. Suitable for scale architectural models or enthusiasts of Mackintosh's work.
