The Half Stepper
thingiverse
This mod removes one of the second extruder assemblies on FlashForge Creator-X models. It repurposes the missing extruder's cooling fan to blow air onto the print nozzle using a top-vent from the printer. To perform this mod, you'll need two new screws for the fan mounting and small nuts that usually come with the model. You can then tighten it against an aluminum mount rail on either side by sliding two small nuts into their slots. The original stepper screws are retained in the mod, but note that the right-hand stepper will need shortened or swapped with 20mm-long ones. This mod attempts to minimize moving assembly stress, vibrations, and wear by reducing its mass. It also tries to resolve issues like clogged nozzles and interference from the second extruder nozzle during printing. The nozzle can be printed upside-down, although it's often a bit more difficult when the print section with the top-mounted fan has some support material. Different print techniques might lead to different results, so don't forget to calibrate the printer after finishing this upgrade. Enjoy better 3D print quality once you've made these improvements!
