The grand monument is one of more than 20 structures meticulously mapped by the Zamani Project's team. The meticulous mapping of Petra took place between 2013 and 2016 during nine field expeditions. To explore further spatial data about the architectural marvels in Petra, visit ww.zamaniproject.org now. Petra, a majestic city in Jordan carved out of Wadi Araba's rocky terrain, was founded over 2,000 years ago and served as the seat of power for the Nabataeans. The ancient tombs and structures are now threatened by erosion due to earthquakes, floods, and natural decay, necessitating close monitoring and documentation. The high-tech laser scanning survey of Petra is part of the Siq Stability project, a collaborative effort between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for UNESCO, the Department of Antiquities of Jordan (DOA), and the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA).
