The Globe Theatre

Made for English 225: Shakespeare class at The University of North Carolina in Spring 2019. Comprehensive 3D model of the building. Before embarking on this project, I lacked experience in 3D modeling, but I was eager to put in the time and effort required to produce a high-quality outcome. In retrospect, I'm extremely proud of the final product. I aimed to design a unique model that showcased both the functionality and beauty of the building. Conducting preliminary research revealed that online 3D print models of The Globe Theatre lacked detail and only represented the rough shape of the building. To rectify this, I wanted to integrate a cross-section view of the building, allowing the viewer to appreciate the intricate details of the stage and staircase in the southwestern tower. My objective was to create a model that was instantly recognizable in shape but also packed with as many details as Fusion 360 would allow me to add. To achieve this, I used an online Globe Theatre snapshot application to view the stage from multiple angles of the theatre. Every element on the stage has been meticulously measured and built by myself, showcasing my attention to detail. Initial models of my design faltered due to issues with how the 3D printer created arches, so I had to incorporate sloped ceilings in order for the machine to print my structure accurately. After four printed prototypes, I finally achieved my desired model.
