Matcap brings out the intricate details of the stone markings with stunning clarity. Notably, this rendering reveals a few more nuances compared to John Sheriff's illustration from 1995. The stone has been relocated 130 yards south of its original position near a road junction. Initially, it sat on the border between Dunnichen and Rescobie parishes. "Girdle" refers to the larger circle resembling a cooking tool by that name. In the center lies a cup and ring mark alongside additional cup marks, an elongated S, and more recent graffiti. Ordnance survey markers are also visible. One enduring folk tale surrounds this stone: Tradition tells us that a witch was carrying this boulder from Carmylie's "Crafts" in her apron when the strings broke, causing the stone to fall where it now rests.
