The Gasworks Lion of Haigh Woodland Park Located at Haigh Woodland Park in Wigan, the former home of James Lindsay, the 7th Earl of Balcarres, this stone carving of a lion stands as a lasting testament to history. A surviving artefact from the old Wigan Gasworks, the lion is a poignant reminder of what once was. This photograph captures the lion before it faced demolition along with the rest of the Gasworks.
